PDSA pet care tips for rabbits

I need lots of fresh water, make sure you keep my water bottle clean and regularly check that it works and doesn't leak.

I love to eat lots of hay, grass and some vegetables, but don't let me get fat!

If you need to change my diet, speak to your vet and don’t change it suddenly as this can make me ill.

I must have lots of exercise, play and space. I can be nervous of humans and noise, so I don't usually make a very good pet for small children.

I like a warm, clean, large hutch and love a safe, spacious rabbit run with hay and toys and somewhere to hide so I feel safe.

I like the company of another rabbit – a neutered male and neutered female make good friends and won't have unwanted babies.

Picture of a brown and white rabbitMy teeth grow all the time, so I need to chew to wear them down – that why I like lots of hay.

Check my fur regularly for nasty parasites like fleas, and especially for mess or maggots around my bottom.

Take me to the vet for advice about vaccinations, flea treatment and neutering.

Think safety - make sure I can't reach anything dangerous as I am very inquisitive!
