Recent PDSA PetAid challenge winners


The PDSA PetAid challenge is open to teenage animal lovers that want to organise and take part in a variety of activities. It’s free to enter and consists of a number of different challenges about pet care and promoting the work of PDSA.

Here are some of our recent PDSA PetAid challenge winners.

10-year-old Lucy Gilkes from Loughborough has been named PDSA PetAid Challenger of the Year for her enthusiasm, dedication and fundraising for pets in need of vets.

Lucy completed an amazing 11 challenges in 2006. They included the Sack Run Challenge, where she donated an incredible 21 bags of goods to her local Leicester PDSA charity shop, as well as putting spare change into PDSA money boxes for the Collecting Box Challenge.

She also designed five fun challenges of her own. She served refreshments and cakes at the Quorn Open Gardens, held a raffle, and organised Easter egg and Teddy tombolas at local fates. With the help of her family she knitted 30 scarves, selling them for £3.50 to school friends and relatives. In total Lucy’s challenges raised over £390 for PDSA.

Anna Silverstein – London

11-year-old Anna Silverstein from Battersea has been named the London winner in the 2006 PDSA PetAid Challenge awards for her fundraising efforts for pets in need of vets.

Anna won after completing five PDSA PetAid Challenges in 2006. In the Sack Run Challenge, she donated an impressive 11 bags of goods to her local PDSA charity shop, and also completed the Computer Challenge by designing a PDSA fundraising poster.

She also took part in a 450-metre sponsored swim and designed her own sponsor challenge which involved looking after ten of her friend’s tamagotchis (virtual pets) for two days! Overall she raised £115 for PDSA.

13-year-old Hazel Birch-Ellis and 12-year-old Nuala Cullen from Birmingham, have been named the Midlands winners in the 2006 PDSA PetAid Challenge awards for their fundraising efforts for pets in need of vets.

The duo won after setting up an animal grooming service for their PetAid Challenge. The girls designed posters advertising the service and spend up to two hours on each animal they groomed – which included cats, dogs, rabbits and horses! Their hard work paid off though. In just a few weeks they raised £96 for PDSA.
