Picture of black labrador MerryHi Pet Protectors!

I have big news! I've been to the vets again, but don’t worry, I’m ok. It was to have an operation to stop me having puppies. Esther told me that this was really important as it will stop me from developing certain infections and diseases. It will also help reduce the problem of unwanted pets too and I definitely wouldn't want my puppies to be without a home.

When I arrived at the vets, the nurses made a big fuss of me, so I wasn’t scared. In fact, I got quite excited at all the smells! They weighed me and checked that I was healthy and then my family left and I was taken through the surgery to the kennels.

Then all I remember is waking up from a really deep sleep. My tummy had been shaved and I had a really big collar thing around my neck. Esther told me this was called an 'Elizabethan collar' and it was to stop me licking my stitches.

The vets told me that I needed to rest for a couple of days, but I was too excited to be home, and I liked all the extra attention I was getting. I wasn’t sore because the vet gave me some painkillers, and now that my hair has grown back, I'm feeling better than ever!

Except that Esther has hidden away all her Easter eggs, so I can't get to them. She has told me that chocolate will make me poorly, but if I see some I can't help but eat it, so its up to her not to leave it around.

What is neutering explained

She says I can have an extra long walk as my Easter treat instead, which will be great! I really like these sunny days and can't wait for summer.

Anyway, it's time for some dinner now,

Happy Easter everyone!

Love Merry x

Did you know? An average dog can produce two litters of puppies every year. If there are eight puppies in a litter, that means sixteen puppies a year! Just imagine if every dog in the UK had sixteen puppies a year… there just wouldn’t be enough homes for them, so neutering is very important.
