I need lots of fresh water, but not milk – it can upset my tummy. Make sure you keep my bowl clean!

I love to eat meat and fish or tinned cat food, but don't feed me too much or I'll get fat and this can make me ill.

I need exercise just like a dog does, but I like to play, climb and chase cat toys!

I love fuss and attention from you, and if I have long hair, I love to be gently groomed to keep my coat healthy.

Ask an adult to talk to your vet about having me microchipped. FACT: a microchip is a tiny computer chip which a vet will inject into the loose skin at the back of my neck. It works like a barcode and means that if I get lost, the police or a veterinary surgery will have a scanner and be able to find out where I live.

Make sure my litter tray is cleaned out regularly – and always wash your hands afterwards!

I need you to help me keep my teeth nice and clean. Your vet can tell you all about special cat toothbrushes and tuna flavoured cat toothpaste!

Think safety - make sure that I cannot reach anything dangerous as I am very inquisitive!

Take me to the vet for advice about vaccinations, neutering, regular flea treatment and worming, as well as diet and microchipping!
