Guinea Pigs

Picture of a guinea pig

I like to live with other guinea pigs, either of the same sex or neutered so we don’t have babies!

It is better that I don’t live with rabbits, we need different foods and could catch diseases from each other.

I like special guinea pig food mix, hay and small pieces of vegetables and fruit.

My teeth grow all the time, so I need hard food chew to wear them down.

Remove any old food from my hutch each day as well as dirty bedding.

Make sure that my hutch is secure as I am frightened of foxes and other animals that may harm me.

Make sure that I get used to being handled by doing it gently and safely.

I make a lot of noises - when I’m happy I purr and shudder!

Check me over regularly and if you are worried about me, ask an adult to take me to the vet.
