Picture of grey cat exploring garden

Hi Pet Protectors,

Thank you for all your letters, I love nosing through the mail - especially if you've sent in drawings of me and my friends, the new Pet Protectors gang!

I love it even more when Vicki has taken off the stamps to collect to help PDSA, then screws up the used envelopes and I can chase them madly around the floor and pounce on them!

Are you all enjoying this sunny weather? I LOVE THE SUMMER! I've spent the whole of the last week prowling around the garden looking for the perfect spot to enjoy it. But as cats love to wander, make sure your furry friends are microchipped.

Picture of National Microchipping month logo

This is a little computer chip about the size of a piece of rice that is injected into the loose skin at the back of your pet's neck. It works like a barcode, so if I get lost, and someone takes me to a rescue centre or a vet, they can scan me with a special machine and get all my owner's details from the chip. This month is National Microchipping Month - so tell all you friends how important it is to microchip pets!

Its also National Vaccination Month, so check your pet's vaccination booklets and make a note on your Pet Protectors wall planner to remind you when their yearly boosters are due. If you've never had your pet vaccinated, its best to talk to your vet about doing this, as its really important.

Dogs, rabbits and cats like me all need protection against some really nasty diseases. Your vet will also give your pet a health check, and its a great chance to ask them any questions you might have about pet care.

Happy Pet Protecting,  Charity xx
