Alfie the arsonist

Alfie the arsonist!

A hungry hound looking for food accidently set fire to his owner's kitchen.

The fire started when Alfie jumped up and nudged a switch on the oven, which heated up a chip pan left on the top.

Luckily the family were awoken by the smoke alarm and managed to get out of the house safely with Alfie. The fire caused thousands of pounds' worth of damage, but thankfully no one was injured.

Toby

Toby saves the day!

Toby was awarded the PDSA Certificate for Animal Bravery after he protected his owners when a burglar broke into the family home. Toby barked an alarm, but was stabbed four times in the chest and legs as he lunged at the burglar to stop him from getting upstairs.

Thankfully, Toby is now fully recovered from his injuries and the man who attacked him is now serving a three-year jail sentence.

Max the police search dog

Max leads the way!

Max, a police search dog, was awarded with a PDSA Commendation for devotion to duty, after he found an elderly man who had gone missing from a nearby hospital and fallen 200ft down a steep hillside in Cumbria. Despite terrible weather conditions, Max did what the helicopters and police couldn't, and used his amazing sense of smell to track the man and lead the rescue team to where he had fallen.

George

PDSA Gold medal awarded!

George a Jack Russell from New Zealand, was awarded a PDSA Gold Medal for saving the lives of five children when two Pit Bull Terriers tried to attack them. George was out walking with his neighbour's children, when the two dogs attacked. George bravely protected the five children but sadly lost his own life in the incident, so PDSA has awarded him with the highest honour for animal bravery and devotion - the PDSA Gold Medal.
